The Lagos State Government recently got a judgment of 14 years for defilement of an underaged girl. The incident took place at Ikorodu. 

What was remarkable was the way the community became hostile to the survivor and her family. 
They resisted the arrest of the then suspect and tried to frustrate the case from even getting to court. 

The survivor and her family however persevered and got judgment. The community continued to persecute them and make their lives unbearable. This is one of the many instances where the community persecutes and ostracizes SGBV survivors and their families. 

This must STOP! DSVRT is partnering with HRM Ayangburen of Ikorodu to address the role the community plays in handling SGBV. The Town Hall meeting would take place on 13th of July, 2016.
